What type of glue do you need?

Most multi-purpose glues can help for common household needs

but some projects require a specific type of glue.

If you are not sure what type of glue to buy, then here are some helpful tips:

1 -- SURFACE ADHESION

Make sure that the glue you are buying is designed to stick

to the materials that you are trying to glue together.

Some glues will melt foam and wood glue is not ideal for fixing a shoe so it is important to know if the glue will stick to or damage the materials you are using.

2 -- STRENGTH vs. TIME

The glue that dries the quickest is usually not the glue that dries the strongest

so carefully consider if strength or time is more important for your project.

Epoxy Glues are generally a good short cut if you do need a strong bond in

a short amount of time but then you need to mix 2 things together

3 -- FLEXIBILITY

Anything that moves or gets handled a lot will endure vibrations. Glues that

dry hard will eventually (or quickly) break apart with too much vibration so

a glue that dries flexible is best for moving parts or frequently handled items

4 -- WATER-RESISTANCE/WATER-PROOFING

Items that are outdoors or exposed to water must be water-proof.

We recommend a special Marine Glue for any projects that are constantly submerged under water but that is available by custom order only.

GENERAL GLUE TIPS

-- Most glues cannot be applied in temperatures below 40 degrees

-- Epoxy Glues can work in cold temperatures

but then the dry time is longer

-- Most glues should be stored at room temperature to last longer

-- All Glues eventually dry out but you can slow this process

down by keeping the lid air-tight and making sure you clean the lid or tip before closing
