GENERAL EDUCATION ABOUT LED BULBS

LED Bulbs are the most efficient type of bulb you can use.

They require less energy to produce the same amount of light,

they last longer than other bulbs, and they produce less heat.

THIS SAVES YOU MONEY

SAVING ENERGY = SAVING MONEY

REPLACING THE BULB EVERY FEW YEARS INSTEAD OF

EVERY 8 MONTHS ALSO SAVES YOU MONEY!

Less gas used, less time spent, and less trips to the store for bulbs!

QUALITY IS VERY IMPORTANT WITH LED BULBS

Even cheap no-name brand LED bulbs will still save you money

on electricity costs but you will save a LOT more money on

good quality bulbs so it is important to know the difference.

WE DO NOT CARRY LOW QUALITY BULBS AT ALL

WE ONLY CARRY HIGH QUALITY GE BULBS

We often get requests for cheaper brand bulbs but they actually end up costing you more money in the long-term than the better quality bulbs so we do not even bother carrying them at all. We have no interest in wasting your money.

GE is the best brand out there regarding LED Bulbs so I recommend trying to only buy GE Brand Bulbs.

Other brands cost less at the store but then they only last about a year or 2 and therefore you are not saving as much money.

DO NOT FALL FOR THE BIG BOX TRAP!

GE Bulbs at a Big Box Store (Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Amazon, etc) are NOT the same as the GE bulbs in our store or other smaller companies such as a lighting store.

These Big Box stores go to GE and demand a lower price due to high volumes of sales and GE then gives them a lower quality bulb so that they can keep the same profit margin.

Search online for customer complaints regarding GE Bulbs and you will see that almost all of these complaints are bulbs that were purchased in Big Box Stores, not smaller companies.

LOOK FOR THIS ENERGY STAR LOGO ON THE PACKAGE!

ENERGY STAR-RATED BULBS ARE 20% - 30% MORE EFFICIENT THAN NON-RATED BULBS!

Energy Star requires higher standards in their testing process.

HOW TO CALCULATE TOTAL COST OF LED BULBS

This is the question I get asked the most,

"How much money am I REALLY spending on these bulbs?"

Here is how to figure out the total cost of ANY BULB

FOR EXAMPLE:

These 60w Bright Stik LED Bulbs are $12.95 for a pack of 3.

$12.95 divided by 3 = $4.32

Just 1 bulb price = $4.32

Now we can calculate the electricity costs using the steps above:

These bulbs use 10 watts to produce 60 watts of light.

1 - 10 watts divided by 1000 = 0.01

2 - 0.01 x 10,000 Bulb Life Hours = 100 Kilowatt Hours (kwh)

3 - 100 kwh x 12.5 cents = $12.50 cents of electricity costs.

Bulb Price ($4.32) + Electric Costs ($12.50) = $16.82 total cost.

Based off of 5 hours per day, this bulb should last 5-6 years.

A regular bulb would cost $7.87 (Price + Electricity Costs) but you would change that bulb about 10 times in 6 years.

$7.87 x 10 = $78.70 Total Cost for Regular Bulbs for 6 years.

$78.70-$16.82 = $61.88 OF SAVINGS PER BULB!
